About UEC

Upskill Education Consulting was founded by Dr. Joana Clayton, a passionate parent and educator. Dr. Clayton has a strong commitment to supporting diverse learners. With over 15 years of experience in leading international schools, she has dedicated the last 10 years to working with students with additional needs, including those with dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism, and ADHD.
Her philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student can achieve success both in the classroom and beyond, provided they receive appropriate and timely support. Her doctoral research focused on developing evidence-based support frameworks for inclusive education. In addition to her doctorate, she holds two Master's degrees—one in Education and another in Psychology. She is of course a qualified teacher and reading interventionist. Currently, she is based in Japan, where she serves as an Individual Needs Teacher at one of Tokyo's most reputable schools.
